Johann Prinz was born in Mainz in the Rhineland-Palatinate in 2000 and since both his parents are professional musicians, he came into contact with music at an early age, so that he received his first trumpet lessons at the age of five. When he became a young student with Prof. Peter Leiner at the HfM Saar in Saarbrücken in 2014, his wish to study trumpet was finally sealed. Since 2020 he has been studying at the HMDK Stuttgart with Prof. Wolfgang Bauer and had a temporary contract at the Theater Ulm in the 2022/23 season.

In addition to temporary work with various professional orchestras such as the SWR Symphony Orchestra or the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival Orchestra, Johann Prinz has been an academic with the Stuttgart Philharmonic since the 23/24 season.

Johann is the newest member of Karidion Brass. He initially joined the ensemble as a temporary member at the “EXPO 2020” in Dubai and became a permanent member of the ensemble at the end of 2022.
